Is it legal for a teacher to make a religious extra credit assignment?
Q. I am currently attending a non religious affiliated college and an English professor has assigned an extra credit assignment. This extra credit assignment would require the student to attend a church service and play about the resurrection of Jesus. Its rather offending to some of the students that are not of the same religion or are even atheist. Is it even legal for her to make such an assignment? Some have been saying that it isn't and it is part of the separation of church and state, but I on the other hand am not quite sure.

A. Depends on whether the class is mandatory, whether the school if public or private and the purpose of the assignment, and whether the assignment is mandatory and what country you are in.
